About Me

About Me. I live on the east coast of Australia, born and raised in Brisbane. I am a wife and mum to 2 precious children. We live in quiet and leafy suburbia, sharing our home with a cheeky cavoodle and a cantankerous cat.

After completing high school I went onto university to complete a very sensible business degree. My career then began in Banking and Finance, working for Westpac, Chase Manhattan Bank and then JPMorgan. After a number of years working with numbers, I then progressed to working with people (which I much preferred) in Human Resources.

I continued to work after I had my baby girl, however three years later when my baby boy was born, my family relocated from Sydney back to my home town of Brisbane. This was the first time in my adult life that I was out of the workforce, and excitedly for me, gave me an opportunity to do the two things I had been dreaming of, work for myself and work creatively.

I created Polkadots, an award winning children’s party business. I learned a lot about myself, about others and about being self-employed, but it was a wonderful experience that made me absolutely unemployable in the future. Working for someone else was no longer in my life plan. Fast forward a couple of years and I sold Polkadots and started working as a Career Coach, specialising in women who were returning to the workforce or looking for a career change. Helping people gives me a huge feeling of pleasure and satisfaction and coaching is something I am passionate about.

My First Book. Working as a Career Coach I met many women who were torn between a desire to generate an income but still be at home with their children. This led me on a journey to investigating the opportunities available to women who wanted to work from home with their own business. My first book, Our Home-Based Business Secrets chronicles the stories of mothers who have created successful home-based businesses. Their stories were written to inspire others who want to achieve the level of freedom working from home provides.

My Next Books. I am now in the process of writing a series of Our Home-Based Business Secrets books featuring businesses including, craft, food based, consulting, design and web design. I am looking for home-based business owners to be featured in my books so if you are reading this and you would love to share your story, please let me know.

My Dream Books. Ever since I was given my first Famous Five novel when I was 8, my passion has been to read fiction. I adore the opportunity to escape into the lives of book characters and be a part of their story. My dream is to write fictional love stories, with happy endings of course! Stay tuned for more!

My blog. I am a passionate advocate for the power of words, personal development and continuous learning. Words can inspire, bring smiles, console, comfort and motivate. They can also do the opposite but I’m a firm believer that you become what you focus on, so I don’t give oxygen to the negative. This blog is about happiness; inspiring words, clever people, gorgeous photos, even delicious food. All of the things that bring a smile to my lips and happiness to my soul.

It’s also about my journey into fulfilling my passion for writing and my dream to write books that inspire. I’m quite a private person by nature, happy to be the reporter and share others’ stories but less comfortable to share my own story, so my writer’s journey posts will be a little like me standing on a cliff on a windy day – liberating but terrifying!
